Portrait-In

Kansalaistori, Helsinki 2016

The stage of the work is a specially built booth i.e. a “portrait machine” that imitates the appearance and function of a photo vending machine.

Instead of photographs, Hiekkaranta creates moving portraits of the people who came to the photo shoot. In practice, the person who comes to be photographed gets to see the dance, of which he or she is the source.

Niina Rinta-Opas drew viewers closer with an organ playing, and Maria Duncker was responsible for serving coffee from the iced coffee fountain and informing about the work.

We were participating with the same project at RT FAIR SUOMI 2017 Cable Factory.
